Michael, you are consistently hitting topics I care about in the perfect moment. I am on day 8 of 11 on the road. I brought my ruck and have kept on schedule for it and yoga for the other days. I’m doing my level best to not eat like an idiot. I have my AG1 and protein shakes in the fridge. Being reasonably good on the road isn’t easy. Thanks for making it easier.
Right on. That's what we're after. I'm glad you found it useful. Having go-to foods and training tools that are easy to take on the road is huge. I'm actually traveling right now too and brought a GORUCK Sandbag and Momentous' multivitamin and protein powder. A little planning goes a LONG way. Then you just layer some basic techniques on top of it all and you're solid.
This is great stuff, too much is too much and too little is too little. Definitely some excellent information for people who live in the real world. I think my diet and exercise plan has worked so well for me because it is a sort of avoidance. I avoid eating bad food/too many carbs, and being sedentary for too long. People seem to find it difficult to avoid eating badly, but if you just stick to eating whole foods and change your mindset to one of "I don't eat fast food" (or at least dont eat too much too often). I avoid social situations that revolve around eating and drinking the wrong foods and plan ahead (eat beforehand workout in the morning), and instead prioritize social events that revolve around fitness.
For sure. Planning for social situations has also been helpful for me. E.g., If I'm going to a family party, I'll train in the morning and go easy on breakfast and lunch. Then I don't have to say no to a cookie and break grandma's heart haha.
Haha! It isn't right to tell grandma you're not hungry for desert. But you're right if I dont plan ahead a hungrier weaker-willed version of me will want to eat more than I should and that make "future me" dislike "past me" immensely at times.
I always make sure to workout first thing in the AM also. This way it’s done. I’ve started my day off well and I won’t postpone it and be too tired to do it later.
Yeah I like working out early because I own that time before everything else begins. After 8AM there is no guarantee some other commitment wont pop up, or like you said, I might be exhausted.
Loved the article and turned around and bought Adam’s book. Having recently lost a lot of weight I am trying to recalibrate my brain that is okay to have that cookie or piece of pizza. Your article are always so relatable for where I am in life atm.
Love it here. Still haven't gone full native and bought a sandbag but will have to get one of those snazzy 2% hats for when I go marching around with my weight vest. (I took my 11-yr-old this Saturday on my march and we talked about the comfort crisis. Kid did 2.1 miles with a light pack. I'm "grooming" the next gen of 2 percenters for you!)

Yep! I’ve got an alarm for 5:45AM so I can go ruck and get back to shower and make call.

I discovered this crazy 2% cult because of the Pump Club newsletter, which I highly recommend. This is all wonderfully full circle now!
Haha I love it. Great to have you here!

Nice work! I really think starting kids young on fitness and eating right pays huge dividends.
Thanks man! Appreciate that. Kids watch us closely. Got to model all our good behaviors!
Consistency is boring but easy.
This is so good!
I needed to read this. Consistency over time is more effective than occasional huge efforts.
Practical, simple thoughts and writing. Always on point.
