I tried greyscale awhile back and it is effective. Can’t remember exactly how I setup but I linked the greyscale on my iPhone to a triple press of the power button. It’s a quick way to toggle it on and off
This is perfectly timed! I forced a digital detox day for my 14 yr old yesterday and she about blew a gasket. We spent the day out and about. We even walked to our Yoga studio (I rucked) I made her take my class. We walked to dinner and then eventually home. She reported feeling less anxious not having her phone! Excited to use the grey scale. Thanks Michael 🙌🏽 Also, looking forward to the Friday tank empty!😳
This is a great article at the perfect time, with exams coming up next week, making my phone more boring is just what I needed! Who thought something this easy could have such a significant effect?
I have set my phone to do this automatically at 9 or 9:30 so I am not as tempted to look at it right before bed. It also turns off notifications until the next morning.
Again, I love that your messages include actionable info to make life better. One of my teenagers told me about Temu the other day, I really appreciate seeing this link and longer article.
I also immediately turned my phone to grayscale, and I wish I had seen this years ago, I have a traumatic brain injury, so I experience sensory overload constantly. I think this will work well for me, but not for the reasons mentioned. Thank you!
And I appreciate the quick access tip to turn color back on when necessary.

That's a cool feature! Thanks for the wisdom. The grayscale feature is rather hard to find on its own.
I believe that would be Accessibility>Accessibility Shortcut>Color Filters for anyone wondering

I would also recommend reading this article if you're interested in adjusting your iPhone settings for health/productivity/...: https://betterhumans.pub/how-to-set-up-your-iphone-for-productivity-focus-and-your-own-longevity-bb27a68cc3d8 (It's a long read but for me, it was worth it. Have been using these settings for almost a year and my screen time has dropped significantly.)
Thanks for the tip, this might have just saved me some night-time study sessions :-)

Your pots = wisdom personified. Brilliant.
Thank you super useful and practical.
This is amazing. Just changed to grayscale and I am already bored. 🤣 woot!
