Investing a small amount of money in 2% is one of the wisest choices I have made. Not only the overall strategic goals, but tactics to help achieve said goals. Keep up the great work, Michael. (I'm almost finished my first reading of Scarcity Brain. Between that and Comfort Crisis, you have helped me improve my life over the last couple of years. A huge thank you.)
I read Comfort Crisis after stumbling onto this awesome newsletter. And of course I picked up Scarcity Brain. I love what you wrote: “we can get more tactical--we can analyze hyper-specific ways to live better every day.” Like with cereal!
Reading the books and this newsletter is like a conversation (even if it’s somewhat mostly in my head). Macro and micro topics to unpack and kick around and try out. And always timely. My wife and I were just taking about how expensive everything is/feels. Just the calculus of Goruck gear vs. something else vs. gear to get by vs. gear to last. I need your uncle!!
Great article! Went to Costco yesterday and picked up some new items based on your recommendations. I got the Alaska salmon burgers and some protein bars: both the Kirkland ones (21g protein and 190 cals) and SimplyProtein (15g protein and 150 cals). Note I also saw Kirkland Chewy protein bars and figured these are NOT what you were referring to, as they are 190 cals with only 10g protein. There were lots of other brands too - great to see Costco promoting these!
As a "bonus", I found Zoa zero sugar energy drinks on sale. I know, I know - normally I steer clear of all energy drinks in favor of sleep, exercise, etc. However, we're about to have baby #2 and found these to be helpful during the rough infant sleep days. Not sure what it is, but they seem to help with alertness more than coffee/tea.
The Costco Quest knockoffs are solid (I think Quest makes them). I buy their SimplyProtein bars, which have ~the same protein per calorie as Quest bars.
Good to know about Zoa! I think energy drinks can be a useful tool in many circumstances (like the ones you're under haha!). Basically, as with all substances, habitual use comes with downsides. Intermittent, conscious use (think of caffeine as a tool, for example) has upsides.

Much appreciated, Michael.
I am a 67 year old grandmother of 9 grandkids. I’m learning a lot about staying healthy from your information. I wish we had a Costco nearby.

*cries in manhattan*
This alone is why I can never live in Manhattan. Lol.
Great stuff! I am a Costco Crazy for 30+ years! The best thing is having a Costco Executive Membership , Costco Visa Card and a Food Saver!
I can’t think of Costco/ The Kirkland Brand and not think about the TV Series “Baskets” 😂
