I planned a lighter workout today because I thought the Murph workout was above my fitness level. After reading this post I realized I was missing the point. The point is to suffer through this grueling workout to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I just finished my modified version of Murph. It was one of the toughest workouts I’ve ever done, but I’m so glad I did it.

Our Yoga studio is hosting a Murph WOD this morning. GORUCk style with bent over rows instead of pull ups. We have about 20 people signed up. Should be a good morning 🔥 Thanks for this post, it gave even greater meaning to the morning ahead 💙

I'm a little confused about what rucking stuff to buy. The Rucker 4.0 link shows a man with a backpack and a handheld bag.

The backpack is the ruck bag, right? And then I'm supposed to buy 30% of my weight as weight plates to load it with? In my case, 65 pounds.

What's the handheld bag? Is that part of it?

Also, any reason to use a backpack over a weighted vest? If I get a weighted vest, it might be easier to do dips and chin-ups with.

I’ve done Murph a few times but I don’t think I ever know the whole story behind it.

Knowing this has definitely made me want to do it with a whole new purpose.
