Brady is the best. His posts are such awesome deep dives. Between his articles and our little cult here I feel pretty smart 😁

Heck of a read, lots of good infro. Living into your older ages, staying fit, a simple task, bending over to pick up anything, will get harder, Keep on keeping on, for sure. Never stop trying!!!

Michael - what are the other two substacks you recommend?

I subscribe to Brady’s account on Substack thanks to Michael’s recommendation. Very detailed info he provides. Also got his book on VO2 max and made it a lot easier for me to understand its importance.

I thought it was interesting that Brady takes a fish oil supplement. Examine recently sent out an email which did not support the supposed benefits of fish oil; however, the email did not state it was bad for you.

The latest I've seen is it's helpful for some people predisposed to heart disease thought my non medical opinion is it might be very marginal.

Regarding VO2 max testing, I'm 78 and according to my Garmin Venu 3, my VO2 max is 36 which is in top 25% for my age. Obviously not as accurate as a real test but at least a baseline. I've never been a runner so I'm wondering if there is another way to more accurately measure. Exercise bike of some type perhaps? Thanks

If you DO decide to have your VO2 max tested, it should be done with a modality with which you are familiar. In other words, if you are a runner, run. If you are a biker, bike. I can walk for hours, but as soon as I get on the assault bilke, 3 minutes at a less than moderate pace about kills me. So, if I were to have my VO2 max tested, I would either pick up running or more time on the bike.
